The issue is as designed.

Solución alternativa

Run the following in OSGeo4W or integrate it into a Python script:

gdal_translate.exe "C:\path\to\file.tif" "C:\path\to\file.mrf" -b 1 -b 2 -b 3 -b 4 -co PHOTOMETRIC=MULTISPECTRAL

This resolves the issue in that the output MRF does not have band 4 automatically assigned to Alpha, but all bands are now set to ColorInterp = Undefined when using gdalinfo.
