Queries against the shape library 10.4.1 QFE56415 perform 6-10% slower than when executed against shape libraries of 10.1Sp1.

The minor difference that is manifested during the testing can be attributed to certain fixes that were installed to handle big shapes. As a part of these fixes, we get the size of each shape that is handled by st_geom functions and based on the size we decide whether or not to use a templob segment for processing that shape. It's unlikely that this would change in future. This minor difference in processing time is an acceptable cost of handling the big shapes in a proper way.
