Error
In ArcGIS Desktop, running the Delete Identical tool from a stand-alone script fails when the input data contains over 17 million records and the script is executed from a virtual machine.

ArcGIS Desktop (including ArcGIS Engine and ArcObjects) is in mature support and will be retired March 1, 2026. Mature support means the end of functionality-based patches and hotfixes; therefore, this issue will not be addressed. There are no plans for future releases of ArcGIS Desktop, and it is recommended that you migrate to ArcGIS Pro. ArcGIS Pro:
- Migrate to ArcGIS Pro. Updating the script for ArcGIS Pro and running it from the same virtual environment with the same data.
ArcMap:
- Split the data in half and execute the script from the virtual environment.
- Manually run the tool for the complete dataset in the virtual environment.
