Error

Can not add .xls table to Layout View by adding table to map, right clicking on table, going to Open > Options > Add Table to Layout.

Solución alternativa

The workaround is to save the excel table as a .dbf file. Bring the .dbf table into ArcMap using the Add Data button. Right click on table > Open > Options > Add Table to Layout
