Unable to configure forms in the ArcGIS Field Maps web app

Description

When attempting to configure forms in the ArcGIS Field Maps web app, the feature layer is disabled in the Content page as shown in the image below.

Cause

• The editing capability of the hosted feature layer is not enabled in ArcGIS Online.
• The layer is not hosted in ArcGIS Online.
• The hosted feature layer is located in a sublayer in the web map.

Solution or Workaround

Depending on the cause, use one of the following options to resolve the issue.

Enable the editing capabilities of the hosted feature layer in ArcGIS Online

Log in to ArcGIS Online with the same credentials used in ArcGIS Field Maps, and check the Enable editing check box in the hosted feature layer settings. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Settings that control editing access for instructions.

Publish the feature layer as a hosted feature layer in ArcGIS Online

1. Log in to ArcGIS Online with privileges to publish hosted feature layers. Click Content > My Content.
2. Browse to the web map, click More Options , and select Open in Map Viewer Classic.

Note:
Step 3 is not required for non-hosted feature layers added to the map through the Search for Layers option.

3. In Map Viewer Classic, save the layer. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Save layers for instructions.
4. Remove the feature layer in the web map. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Organize layers (Map Viewer Classic) for more information.
5. Click Content > My Content, and publish the feature layer as a hosted feature layer. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Publish hosted feature layers for instructions.
6. Open the web map in Map Viewer Classic, and add the hosted feature layer to the web map. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Add layers to maps (Map Viewer Classic) for instructions.
7. Click Save Map , and select Save to save the web map.

Ungroup the sublayer under the group layer in Map Viewer

In ArcGIS Online, browse to the web map, and ungroup the sublayer under the group layer in Map Viewer. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Create and manage group layers for more information.
