Is it possible to remove legend patches in ArcGIS Online Map Viewer?

Answer

No, it is not possible to remove legend patches of a web map in ArcGIS Online Map Viewer. However, it is possible to hide the legend patches in the web map by hiding the layers or the layer style’s graphic. The following are workflows to hide the layer or the layer style’s graphic in the web map legend in ArcGIS Online.

Hide the layer in the web map legend

In ArcGIS Online Map Viewer, turn off the Show in map legend toggle button to hide the layer in the legend. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Hide a layer in the legend for instructions.

In the Properties pane, the 'Show in map legend' option is displayed when expanding the Symbology section.

In ArcGIS Online Map Viewer Classic, click the Hide in Legend option to hide the layer in the legend. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Hide a layer in the legend for instructions.

The 'Hide in Legend' option is displayed when clicking the More Options icon in the Contents pane.

Hide the layer style’s graphic in the web map legend

In ArcGIS Online Map Viewer, turn off the Include in legend toggle button to hide the layer style’s graphic in the legend. Based on the layer’s style, refer to ArcGIS Online: Style numbers (Map Viewer) or ArcGIS Online: Style time (Map Viewer) for more information.

Toggle off the 'Include in legend' option in the Style Options pane and click Done at the bottom-left of the pane.
