Summary
In ArcGIS Pro, once a legend is added to a layout, the appearance of the legend can be customized. This article provides the workflow to change the alignment of a legend title in an ArcGIS Pro layout.
Procedure
- Ensure the legend title is displayed in the legend.
- In the layout view, in the Contents pane, right-click the legend layer, and select Properties.
- In the Format Legend pane, on the Options tab, click to expand Legend.
- Under Legend, for Title, check the Show box to display the legend title in the legend.
Note:
Modifying the Name section under General changes the name of the legend in the Contents pane. The changes made in this section is not displayed in the layout.
- Type a title for the legend in the box below the Show box. In this example, the legend title is Malaysia.
- The title is displayed in the legend.
- Change the alignment of the legend.
- In the Format Legend pane, click Text Symbol.
- On the General tab, expand Position.
- For Horizontal alignment, select one of the options available. In this example, the Center alignment is selected.
- Click Apply to change the alignment of the legend.
- The texts in the legend, including the title and the labels, are now aligned to the center.
- Alternatively, change the alignment of the legend title only while preserving the alignment of other text elements in the legend.
- In the Format Legend pane, click the down arrow next to Legend.
- In the drop-down menu, select Title.
- On the General tab, click to expand Position.
- For Horizontal alignment, select one of the options available. In this example, the Right alignment is selected.
- Click Apply to change the alignment of the legend title.
- The title is now aligned to the right. The alignment of the labels is not changed.
