Error Message

When attempting to install an older version of the ArcGIS Pro SDK for .NET template and/or utilities Visual Studio extensions (.vsix) after uninstalling ArcGIS Pro SDK for .NET version 2.8, the following errors may occur.

Cause

This issue typically occurs when both Visual Studio 2022 and Visual Studio 2019 or 2017 have been installed. The problem is caused by an incompatibility in the VSIXManifest file for the ArcGIS Pro SDK templates and utilities.

Solution or Workaround

The ArcGIS Pro SDK for .NET templates and utilities VSIXs have been updated with a fix for this issue for version 2.8 and later in the Visual Studio Marketplace and the ArcGIS Pro SDK for .NET GitHub release resources.

To fix this issue, follow these steps.

1. Uninstall the ArcGIS Pro SDK for .NET version 2.8 Visual Studio extension. Refer to the Uninstall ArcGIS Pro SDK for .NET section of ProGuide Installation and Upgrade for step-by-step instructions.
2. Download and install the ArcGIS Pro SDK for .NET and/or utilities version 2.8 or later from either the Visual Studio Marketplace or the ArcGIS Pro SDK for .NET GitHub release resources.
   • Visual Studio Marketplace: follow the Install ArcGIS Pro SDK for .NET insructions from ProGuide Installation and Upgrade.
   • ArcGIS Pro SDK GitHub release resources: download proapp-sdk-templates.vsix and proapp-sdk-utilities.vsix for version 2.8 or later in the Assets section. Double-click to install.
3. After installing the fixed version, ArcGIS Pro SDK templates and/or utilities can be uninstalled normally and older versions can be installed without further error.
