The option to create an ArcGIS Web AppBuilder or ArcGIS Dashboards app is unavailable in ArcGIS Online

Description

When attempting to create a web app from the web map's item details page using the Create Web App option, the ArcGIS Web AppBuilder and ArcGIS Dashboards options are not available, as demonstrated in the image below.

Cause

This issue occurs when ArcGIS Online is accessed using a public account. A public account has limited functionality in ArcGIS Online. It does not support creating web apps such as ArcGIS Web AppBuilder and ArcGIS Dashboards from a web map. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Accounts for more information.

Solution or Workaround

To resolve the issue, convert the public account to an ArcGIS organizational account. Use one of the methods provided below.

Convert the public account into an organizational account

Note:
Only administrators can perform this workflow.

A user becomes a member of an ArcGIS organization when the administrator adds them to the organization or after they accept an invitation to join the organization. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Join organization for more information. Invite the user with the public account to the ArcGIS organization to convert the public account into an organizational account. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Invite and add members for steps to do this.

Create an ArcGIS organizational account

Creating a new ArcGIS organizational account requires an ArcGIS Online subscription. Seek the assistance of Esri Customer Service for more information on ArcGIS Online subscriptions. After requesting for the ArcGIS Online subscription, an activation link is provided via email. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Activate subscription for more information.

Create a free ArcGIS Online trial account

A user with a public account has a free 21-day trial subscription of the ArcGIS organizational account that provides full ArcGIS Online functionality. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Manage trial subscription for more information.

Note:
Projects created during the trial period are not preserved if the user does not purchase a full organization subscription once the trial subscription ends.
