Unable to sign in to Portal for ArcGIS using ArcGIS Pro

Last Published: June 11, 2021

Description

After adding a newly configured ArcGIS Enterprise deployment as an active portal in ArcGIS Pro, logging in with enterprise credentials fails. The Portal for ArcGIS URL is correctly added to the Portals list in ArcGIS Pro, but the status remains as ‘Not signed in’.

Cause

The Portal for ArcGIS web context URL in the Portal Administrator Directory contains an invalid REST endpoint. The example below displays an incorrect web context URL.

https://webadaptorhost.domain.com/webadaptorname/home

The correct Portal for ArcGIS web context URL format is:

https://webadaptorhost.domain.com/webadaptorname

Solution or Workaround

In Portal Administrator Directory, remove the invalid REST endpoint in the WebContextURL properties, and update the portal-config.properties configuration file.

  1. Update the WebContextURL via Portal Administrator Directory. For steps, refer to Portal for ArcGIS: Set the WebContextURL property.
  2. Update the portal-config.properties configuration file by removing the invalid REST endpoint. Navigate to the directory shown below and open the portal-config.properties file with a text editor software.
C:\<Portal for ArcGIS installation directory>\content\items\portal
  1. Update the WebContextURL parameter to follow the format shown below.
https://webadaptorhost.domain.com/webadaptorname

In this example, ‘/home’ is removed from the WebContextURL parameter.
