Description
In ArcGIS Pro, when editing items in the legend, the patches overlap with their labels.
Cause
The problem occurs when the default symbol size of a feature layer is modified, causing the patch to overlap with the label in the legend.
Solution or Workaround
To resolve this issue, choose one of the methods provided below.
Configure the width and height of the patches
- In ArcGIS Pro, click the Layout tab to activate the layout view. The tab color turns blue.
- In the Contents pane, right-click Legend, and click Properties.
- In the Element pane, on the Options tab, expand the Legend Items node, and click Show properties….
- In the [multiple items] pane, expand the Sizing node, and configure Patch width and Patch height by clicking the Increment or Decrement arrow.
Configure the spacing between the patches and labels
- In ArcGIS Pro, click the Layout tab to activate the layout view. The tab color turns blue.
- In the Contents pane, right-click Legend, and click Properties.
- In the Element pane, click the Legend Arrangement Options tab, and expand the Spacing node.
- Change the value for Patches and text to configure the spacing between the patches and labels. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Change the legend's appearance for more information.
