Unable to append data to an ArcGIS Online hosted feature layer in ArcGIS Pro

Description

Data from an ArcGIS Pro feature class can be appended to an ArcGIS Online hosted feature layer using the ArcGIS Pro Append tool. In some instances, attempting to append data to a hosted feature layer fails, and returns the warning message, 'WARNING 000594: Input feature <FeatureID>: Function not implemented.'

Cause

This is a known limitation. Refer to BUG-000133544 for more information.

Solution or Workaround

Follow the steps below to resolve the issue.

  1. In ArcGIS Pro, create a new project, and add a new map. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Create a project for more information.
  2. Add the feature class and hosted feature layer to the project. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Use a portal connection for instructions to add the feature layer.
  3. Append the data from the feature class to the hosted feature layer using the Append tool.
    1. On the Parameters tab, select the layers for Input Dataset and Target Dataset.
    2. On the Environments tab, uncheck the Preserve Global IDs check box.
    3. Click Run.

The data from the feature class is successfully appended to the hosted feature layer without warning messages returned.
