Unable to run the ArcGIS Data Store backupdatastore utility

Description

Attempts to manually backup data store such as relational, tile cache, or spatiotemporal big data store using the backupdatastore utility fail.

Cause

The backup location for the data store is not specified or configured properly.

Solution or Workaround

Follow these steps to configure the backup location of the data store:

1. Run the Windows Command Prompt as an administrator.
2. Navigate to the ArcGIS Data Store utilities folder using the following command:

cd <ArcGIS Data Store installation directory>\DataStore\tools

3. Run the configurebackuplocation command utility to specify the backup folder path. Refer to Portal for ArcGIS: ArcGIS Data Store command utility reference - configurebackuplocation for more information.

configurebackuplocation --operation change --store relational|tileCache|spatiotemporal --location <backup location>

4. When prompted with Do you wish to continue (Yes or No)?, type Yes, and press Enter.

A backup location is configured, and manual backups using the backupdatastore utility is possible.
