The error message

Cause

The known causes for the error are as follows:

  • A question is added and removed from the survey without being used. This creates conflicting fields on the new questions added in place of the removed question.
  • The survey does not honor the ArcGIS Enterprise publishing requirements.

Solution or Workaround

Depending on the cause, complete either one of the methods provided below to resolve.

The survey contains conflicting fields

Republish a new survey based on the existing survey.

  1. In the ArcGIS Survey123 website survey gallery, navigate to the survey, and click More options > Save As.
  2. In the Save As New Survey window, fill in the required sections, and click Save As.
  3. Open the new survey, and edit the conflicting fields.
  4. Click Save > Publish.

The survey does not honor the ArcGIS Enterprise publishing requirements

Refer to ArcGIS Survey123: Limitations for more information on the publishing requirements.

Alternatively, publish the survey using the ArcGIS Survey123 Connect desktop app. Publishing the survey from the desktop app narrows down the exact cause, as the desktop app specifies the cause of the error instead of returning a generic error message in the ArcGIS Survey123 website. Refer to ArcGIS Survey123: Publish a survey for steps to publish a survey from the desktop app.
