Failed to write results

Error Message

The Customer Derived Trade Area tool in Business Analyst returns the following error:

Error 080002: Failed to write results.

This affects Business Analyst versions 10.2.2 through 10.7

This error occurs when using a file geodatabase feature class as input and the Area_ID field is more than 20 characters.  The value in the Area_ID field is limited to 20 characters, and is composed of the Store_Name + _1. 

Cause

If the Store_Name  is more than 18 characters adding the _1 yields a value of more than 20 characters, the Area_ID field exceeds the allowed length, and the command fails with the above error.
