Your portal is not configured to find locations from address stored in files

Error Message

Attempts to add a CSV file containing location information to Portal for ArcGIS fail with the following error message:

Your portal is not configured to find locations from address stored in files.

Cause

Potential causes for the error include but are not limited to:

• Portal for ArcGIS is not configured with a locator service.
• The CSV file added to Portal for ArcGIS is corrupted.

Solution or Workaround

To resolve the issue, use one of the following workarounds:

• Configure Portal for ArcGIS with a locator service to enable geocoding. Refer to Portal for ArcGIS: Configure the portal to geocode addresses for steps to do this.
• Create a new version of the CSV file containing the same data as the previous CSV file, and add it to Portal for ArcGIS. Ensure all the elements in the CSV file follow the supported formats for location data in CSV files.
