Some point cloud data are not visible in ArcGIS Pro scene layer and ArcGIS Online Scene Viewer

Description

In some instances, when viewing a point cloud scene layer in either ArcGIS Pro scene layer or ArcGIS Online Scene Viewer, some point cloud data are not visible.

Cause

The point cloud data have negative values. By default, point cloud data with negative elevation values are plotted beneath the elevation surface, and are not displayed in the ArcGIS Pro scene layer and ArcGIS Online Scene Viewer.

Solution or Workaround

Use one of the following solutions to resolve this issue depending on the ArcGIS product:

In ArcGIS Pro scene layer

Check the Allow navigation below ground option in the Map Properties dialog box. This allows navigation below ground to view the points beneath the elevation surface. For more information, refer to the following technical article, Problem: The elevation surface in a 3D scene blocks some features.

In ArcGIS Online Scene Viewer

Enable the Underground navigation in the Configure Ground pane. This allows navigation below ground. For more information, refer to the following web help page, ArcGIS Online: Configure ground.
