This project can’t be selected

Error Message

Attempting to launch a project in the ArcGIS Business Analyst Web App fails, and returns the following error message.

Error:   
This project can’t be selected.

Cause

This issue occurs when a project in the ArcGIS Business Analyst Web App is unable to connect to its hosted feature layer in ArcGIS Online. The following describes the possible causes:

• The project’s hosted feature layer is not shared to the project’s default group.
• The project’s hosted feature layer is no longer available in the project’s default group.
• The project’s hosted feature layer is deleted in ArcGIS Online.

Note:
A project’s contents are accessible and can be found in ArcGIS Online. Refer to ArcGIS Business Analyst: Your content in ArcGIS Online  for more information. When a project is created in the ArcGIS Business Analyst Web App, a group is automatically created in ArcGIS Online, and all the project’s data are shared with the group by default.

Solution or Workaround

Perform the following steps to resolve this issue.

1. Launch ArcGIS Online.
2. Navigate to Content > My Content > Folders > BA - Project Data.

3. Share the project’s hosted feature layer to the project’s default group accordingly. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Share items with a group for more information.

Note:
It is not possible to recover a deleted item in ArcGIS Online. However, a preventive measure is to enable the ‘Delete Protection’ setting for the desired item. Refer to ArcGIS Blog: How to prevent accidental deletion for more information.
