How To: Display the earth curvature corrections parameter in the Visibility tool in ArcGIS Pro

The Visibility tool in ArcGIS Pro includes an earth curvature corrections parameter to check for the earth's curvature and refraction. However, by default, the parameter is not displayed in the Visibility tool when the Input raster parameter for the tool is not set or the data type for Input raster is incorrect.

The input raster must be specified before certain parameters of the Visibility tool are displayed. This behavior is different from ArcMap because the Visibility tool in ArcMap displays the Use earth curvature corrections option, but the option is disabled (grayed out) instead.

To display the Use earth curvature corrections option:

  1. Ensure the input raster has the correct data type. The input raster can be any one of the following:
  • surface elevation raster
  • raster with the height of the top observation point recorded from the ground surface at each location
  • line feature class where the vertex of each line represents the location of the observation points
  1. Add the input raster in the Input raster field of the Visibility tool.
