PROBLEM

Cannot create intersections between multiple graph networks in CityEngine

Last Published: April 26, 2020

Description

After importing separate layers into CityEngine, such as shapefiles and file geodatabase feature classes, it is not possible to create intersections by using the Freehand Street operation to connect one layer to another.

Cause

Intersections are not created if the streets reside in two different layers. This is expected behavior.

Solution or Workaround

To resolve this issue, merge the layers in CityEngine.

  1. In the Scene pane, select a graph network. Hold down the Shift key, and select the second graph network.
  2. Right-click the selected layer and select "Merge Layers".

  3. The layers are merged. Streets can be created between the two different road segments with the appropriate intersection.
