How To: Install Esri Maps for SAP BusinessObjects on Java web application servers

Before installing the Esri Maps for SAP BusinessObjects components, the following software components must be installed and properly configured on the system.

  • SAP BusinessObjects Intelligence Platform
  • SAP Dashboards
  • Adobe AIR
The Esri Maps for SAP BusinessObjects add-on is a Java-based web application. The application supports Java Servlet versions 2.5, 3.0, and 3.1, and has been tested against Apache Tomcat and WebSphere web application servers. Esri Maps for SAP BusinessObjects 2.0 is expected to operate on other Java web application servers running Java Servlet 2.5, 3.0, and 3.1.

Follow the steps below to create and deploy a Web application archive (WAR) file for the Esri Maps for SAP BusinessObjects add-on.

  1. Download Esri Maps for SAP BusinessObjects from the Esri website.
  2. Copy the 'em4bobj_server_install.zip' file from the ISO file to a temporary location on the system.
  3. Extract the contents of the server installation archive to a temporary location.
  4. Configure Esri Maps for SAP BusinessObjects as described in Administrative and login settings in the Installation Guide.
  5. Create the WAR archive to be deployed on the SAP BusinessObjects Server.
    1. From the em4bobj_server_install folder, browse to the em4bobj subfolder. The folder contains the following subfolders:
      • dashb
      • em4bobj
      • emf
      • esriBIX
    2. From the em4bobj subfolder, open a command prompt and type the following command to create the WAR file.
jar –cvf em4bobj.war dashb em4bobj emf esriBIX
  6. To deploy the WAR file, refer to the instructions outlined in the administration documentation of the web application server.

Deploy the em4bobj.war archive to the location where standard SAP BusinessObjects web applications (such as BOE, dswsbobje, AdminTools, and so on) are deployed on the web server. For example, on Apache Tomcat, this is located in the webapps folder.
  7. Install the Esri Maps for SAP BusinessObjects client-side components as described in the Installation Guide.
