Frequently asked question

Is it possible to use an Excel table with place names in an address locator?

Last Published: April 26, 2020

Answer

Yes. It is possible to use an Excel table as a place-name alias table in an address locator. The place-name alias is used for locations, such as the name of a school, hospital, or other landmarks.

Alias fields and address fields must be present in the Excel table for it to be used in an address locator.

For more information on how to build an address locator for place-name aliases, refer to the following ArcGIS Web Help topic: The place-name alias table.
