Error Message

When opening ArcPad, a similar message as seen below is received and, depending on the type of customizations made to the applet, can prevent ArcPad from opening successfully.
[O-Image]

Cause

A custom applet (.apa) and / or custom script file (like a VBScript .vbs file) were deleted from the Applets folder directory.

C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\ArcPad10.2\Applets

Whenever a custom applet is created and saved in ArcPad Studio in the Applets folder directory, a reference to the applet is written and stored in the VirtualStore folder directory in the user's profile in Windows.

For example:

C:\Users\[UserProfile]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\ArcPad10.2\Applets

Solution or Workaround

For ArcPad to open successfully, select one of the following options.

  • Completely remove the reference to the applet by deleting the .apa file(s) from the folder location listed above in the example.
  • Find and replace the missing .apa and / or .vbs files in the Applets folder.
