PROBLEM

All features are selected if the data frame is set to GCS and display units are set to UTM, MGRS, or U.S. National Grid in the Data Frame Properties

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

When a data frame is in a Geographic Coordinate System (GCS), or is undefined, and the display units are set to UTM, MGRS, or U.S. National Grid from the Data Frame Properties, the Select Features tool selects all selectable features when trying to select one feature.

Cause

Bug NIM087607: The Select Features tool selects every feature in a feature class if one feature is selected when the data frame is in a geographic coordinate system, or is undefined, and the display units are set to UTM, MGRS, or U.S. National Grid from the Data Frame Properties.

Solution or Workaround

The suggested workaround is as follows:

A. Set the display units from the Data Frame Properties dialog box to any unit other than UTM, MGRS, or U.S. National Grid.

1. Right-click the Data Frame Name, and click Properties.

2. Select the Display units from the drop-down (any unit other than UTM, MGRS, or U.S. National Grid).

3. Click OK.

B. Set the display of the coordinates from the ArcMap Options Data View tab.

1. On the Customize menu, click ArcMap Options.

3. Click the Data View tab.

4. Check the box for 'Use these units instead of data frame's Display units'.

5. Select UTM, MGRS, or U.S. National Grid, and click OK.

• Individual features may now be selected one at a time.
