PROBLEM

Mobile Project Center 3.0 unable to share projects to ArcGIS Server 10.0 for Java

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

For ArcGIS for Windows Mobile 3.0 (and above), the Mobile Project Center (MPC) application is not able to share mobile projects to ArcGIS Server Java Edition 10.0.

The Mobile Project Center application keeps on presenting the credentials box after typing user name and password.

ArcGIS Server .NET Edition does not have the issue.

Cause

When Mobile Project Center tries to share projects to ArcGIS Server Java Edition 10.0, the server returns a 499 error code which means a token is required. But by default, the Mobile Content server (a web application hosted in ArcGIS Server) does not use token-based security.

This wrong error code had been changed in ArcGIS for Server 10.1, and ArcGIS for Windows Mobile 3.0 was changed accordingly. But the change causes compatibility issue with ArcGIS Server Java Edition 10.0

Solution or Workaround

There are two workaround for the issue.
• Users can share projects to the ArcGIS online or,
• Save projects locally and then copy the project to devices.
