A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows

Error Message

After installing add-ins for Microsoft Internet Explorer, the following error message may be returned in ArcMap if the MXD includes data from Bing Maps or other online image service:

"A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows."

This issue has been reported in ArcMap at version 9.3.1 as well as at 10.0.

Cause

Add-ins installed for Microsoft Internet Explorer prevent ArcMap from accessing image services. One application known to cause this conflict is Google Chrome Frames.

Solution or Workaround

This error is returned by ArcMap at 9.3.1 or at 10.0 when using or accessing Bing Maps, or other online image services in the map document.
