Why is the modified date of a newly created version not the same as the creation date?
On the Versions tab of the Geodatabase Administration dialog box in ArcGIS for Desktop, the modified date reflects the date that the state to which the new version is pointing was last modified. When a version is first created, this date matches the modified date of the parent version. Once edits have been made to the new version, the modified date is updated.
