Error Message

The following warning message is displayed when trying to add a terrain dataset to ArcScene.

"Could not add the specified data object to the scene. Try using a smaller subset."

Cause

Terrain datasets are not supported in ArcScene. Terrains are supported in ArcMap and ArcGlobe.

Solution or Workaround

• Convert the area of interest to a raster format using the Terrain To Raster tool.
• Convert the area of interest to the TIN format using the Terrain to TIN tool.
