Last Published: April 25, 2020

Summary

By default, a geocoding service can return up to 500 results, however this can be modified to increase or decrease the number of results.

Procedure

  1. Publish the Address Locator to ArcGIS Server via ArcGIS Server Manager, or through ArcCatalog/Catalog Window using an admin connection to ArcGIS Server.
  2. While in ArcGIS Server Manager, or ArcCatalog/Catalog Window, stop the service.
  3. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the configuration file:
    • ArcGIS Server 10.0
    C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\Server10.0\server\user\cfg
    • ArcGIS 9.3.x
    C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\Server\user\cfg
  4. Open the .cfg file for the service in Notepad.
  5. Change the <MaxResultSize> value to the desired value and save the file.
  6. In ArcGIS Server Manager, or ArcCatalog/Catalog Window re-start the service.
