When performing the software authorization the following error is received:
"Unspecified error no valid feature found in the received authorization data. Please check the data you entered and try again."
This is related to a known software defect where the Software Authorization Wizard throws an error even though the software is successfully authorized. Please see the Related Information section of this article for tracking information.
This issue is resolved at 10.0 SP1 and the 10.1 release of ArcSDE.
The software authorization should successfully populate the authorization information in the database, regardless of the error message received. Successful authorization can be verified by examining the server_config table to check if the authorization information is populated within the AUTH_KEY record.
Successful creation and starting of an application server service or attempting to connect to the geodatabase from a client application via direct connect will verify the software authorization completed successfully as well.
