HOW TO

Configure ArcReader and ArcGIS Server UI language without using the ArcGIS Administrator

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Summary

Instructions provided describe how to configure ArcReader and ArcGIS Server user interface (UI) language without using the ArcGIS Administrator. If only ArcReader and ArcGIS Server (excluding ArcGIS Server Web Application) are installed on the machine, without using the ArcGIS Administrator, the UI language can still be switched in ArcReader or ArcGIS Server.

Procedure

By default, ArcGIS relies on Windows OS Display Language to switch ArcGIS UI language.

Note:
The ArcGIS language pack and Microsoft Multilingual User Interface (MUI) language pack must be installed prior to following the procedure below.

  1. The OS Display Language can be changed by going to Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Languages.
  2. Select the desired language from 'Language used in menus and dialogs'. (This is how it appears in the GUI for Windows XP. The GUI for Windows Vista and later versions of Windows is slightly different). For more information on how to change the display language in Windows Vista and later versions of Windows, see the link provided to the Microsoft Windows knowledge base article in the Related Information section below.

After the Display Language is changed and ArcReader or ArcGIS Server is opened, the ArcGIS UI language is also changed.
