Could not validate application directory when opening Business Analyst

Error Message

Due to a known issue, users may be asked to run Business Analyst setup (setup.msi) from the installation DVD.

When opening Business Analyst after updating, users receive the following error message:

"Could not validate application directory: C:\ArcGIS\Bin\GxImageConnect.dll
Current ImageConnect loaded from C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Bin\GxImageConnect.dll"

Cause

Running setup.msi from the Business Analyst installation disk changes the location of the application directory from its default location.

Solution or Workaround

Change the application directory path in the Windows registry.

Follow these steps to change the directory path:
  1. In Windows, click Start > Run...
  2. In the Run window, type 'regedit'.
  3. In the Registry tree, expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. In the SOFTWARE folder, navigate to GlobeXplorer > ImageConnect > ArcGIS9.
  4. In the Name column, double-click AppPath. In the Edit String window, enter the following path:
    C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Bin
    Click OK.
  5. In the Name column, double-click HelpFile. In the Edit String window, enter the following path:
    C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Business Analyst\Documentation\ImageConnect for ArcGIS.pdf
    Click OK.
  6. Close the Registry Editor.
