Failed to create script parsing engine Error Code: 0x8007007E Scripting Language: VBScript

Error Message

Opening ArcPad on a mobile device generates the following error message:

"Failed to create script parsing engine Error Code: 0x8007007E Scripting Language: VBScript".

Cause

The VBScript Runtime Library was not installed correctly on the mobile device through the deployment manager.

Solution or Workaround

1. With the mobile unit connected to the desktop, open the ArcPad Deployment Manager (Start > Programs > ArcGIS > ArcPad 7.1).
2. Check the box next to Install VBScript Runtime Library for Windows Mobile. Click the Deploy button.
3. When the program has finished loading on the mobile device, restart ArcPad.
