PROBLEM

Unable to preview a map service if using a direct connection to DB2 to access the data

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

After publishing a map service from an ArcMap document that contains data from a DB2 database, the data in the map service cannot be previewed.

Cause

The local user required on the client machine to make a direct connection to the DB2 database is not being recognized by ArcGIS Server, and the ArcGIS Server SOC account is not being recognized by DB2.

Solution or Workaround

Add the local user to the AGSUSERS and DB2USERS groups on the client machine. Also add the ArcGIS SOC account to the DB2USERS group on the client machine.

  1. Open the Windows Computer Management Console.
  2. Expand the Local Users and Groups node and click Groups.
  3. Right-click the DB2USERS group and click Add to Group.
  4. Click Add, then type the name of the local user needed to make a direct connection to the DB2 database. (See the help topic in the Related Information section for information on setting up a client to make a direct connection to a DB2 database.)

Be sure the location, from which the user is being added, is the local machine.
  5. Click OK to add the local user to the DB2USERS group and close the Select Users, Computers, or Groups dialog box.
  6. Click Add. Add the ARCGISSOC user to the DB2USERS group.
