RegCat Run-time error '-2147024770 (8007007e)': Automation error: The specified module could not be found

Error Message

When installing ArcGIS Desktop, the following error is received:

"RegCat
Run-time error '-2147024770 (8007007e)':
Automation error
The specified module could not be found."

Cause

This error is caused by a problem with the Microsoft Script Runtime Library.

Solution or Workaround

Manually register the Microsoft Script Runtime Library by following these steps:

1. Click Start > Run.
2. Type cmd and click OK.
3. Type the following and press Enter:

regsvr32 "c:\windows\system32\scrrun.dll"

4. Close out of the Command Prompt: type exit, and press Enter.
5. Restart the ArcGIS Desktop installation.
