The spnsrvnt.exe process is consuming 100% CPU usage

Description

The spnsrvnt.exe process is at 100% CPU usage.

Cause

The spnsrvnt.exe process can sometimes become corrupt by a computer virus or the anti-virus software may detect this process as being infected.

Solution or Workaround

1. Open Add/Remove programs from the Control Panel.
2. Find the Sentinel Protection Installer, select it, and click the Change button.
3. Select Modify and click the drop-down box next to Sentinel Protection Server. Select the Red X "This feature will not be available".
4. This removes the spnsrvnt.exe process. Once finished, go ahead and reboot the machine so the changes can be applied.
