HOW TO

Import custom scales into ArcMap to quickly zoom to ArcGIS Online scale levels

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Summary

When viewing ArcGIS Online services in ArcMap, the layers are best viewed at the scales at which the services were cached.

The scale levels for ArcGIS Online services are selected to prevent overlapping tiles at the international date line. This results in scale values that are not round.

Instructions provided describe how to import a list of customized scales into ArcMap that correspond to the ArcGIS Online scale levels to make it easier to quickly zoom to appropriate scales.

Procedure

  1. Copy the following list of scale levels into a text file.
