Error Deleting File or Folder windows. Cannot delete a0000000026.gdb.sdc: It is being used by another person or program

Error Message

When attempting to delete a Compressed File Geodatabase from ArcCatalog, the following error message is displayed:

"Error Deleting File or Folder window.
Cannot delete a0000000026.gdb.sdc: It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again."

Note:
The Compressed File Geodatabase option is selected during the Data Packaging process for a published map document (.pmf).

Cause

The error is generated when attempting to delete a File Geodatabase in ArcCatalog or Windows Explorer. The Compressed File Geodatabase option had been selected when publishing and packaging the data for a .pmf file.

Solution or Workaround

1. In ArcToolBox, navigate to Data Management Tools > File Geodatabase > Uncompress File Geodatabase.
2. Delete the files.
