Frequently asked question

Where are the address locators that were created in previous versions of ArcGIS?

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Answer

The Address Locator folder no longer exists in ArcGIS 9.2. The existing pre-9.2 address locators are still available in the following location, which was the default location for new address locators created in ArcCatalog in previous versions of ArcGIS:

C:\Documents and Settings\<user profile>\Application Data\ESRI\Locators

Make a folder connection to this directory in ArcCatalog.

The address locators created prior to 9.2 are still usable for geocoding, however features such as rebuilding locators, fast speed matching, embedded standardization and rule bases are not supported.

Note:
For improved geocoding performance replace the pre-9.2 address locators:
1. Create new 9.2 address locators
2. Delete pre-9.2 address locators and indexes.
