Error: Wrong hostid on SERVER line for license file. Invalid hostid on SERVER line. Disabling 1 license from feature ARC/INFO
An error message similar to the following is displayed in the license manager debug log file:
"13:03:13 (ARCGIS) Wrong hostid on SERVER line for license file:
13:03:13 (ARCGIS) C:\PROGRA~1\ESRI\License\arcgis9x\ARCINFO9.lic
13:03:13 (ARCGIS) SERVER line says ESRI_SENTINEL_KEY=37114977, hostid is ESRI_SENTINEL_KEY=37114916
13:03:13 (ARCGIS) Invalid hostid on SERVER line
13:03:13 (ARCGIS) Disabling 1 license from feature ARC/INFO(FC10A0313DBD4EC1AC53)"
Where 37114977 is the sentinel or hardware key listed in the license file used to install the license manager and 37114916 is the hardware key currently installed on the computer.
The hardware key has been changed since the license manager was installed.
Solution or Workaround
Replace the hardware key with the original hardware key or request a new license file that matches the new hardware key and update the license service.
- Remove the incorrect hardware key, install the hardware key listed in the license file and restart the license service.
- 1. Request a new license file that matches the new hardware key from http://service.esri.com.
2. Start Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\ESRI\License\arcgis9x and delete all *9.lic files.
3. Navigate to Start > Programs > ArcGIS > License Manager 9.x > Update License and follow the wizard once the new license file has been received.
