HOW TO

Use ArcWeb Services with ArcIMS or ArcGIS Server

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Summary

Instructions provided discuss different ways to combine ArcWeb Services with ArcIMS or ArcGIS Server map services.

ArcWeb Services provides several options to work with other map services while using the functionality provided by ArcWeb Services.

Procedure

1. Merge an ArcWeb Services map image with an ArcIMS or ArcGIS Server map image into a single fused image.

Create and get map URLs from each service and send the two URLs to the ArcWeb Services map fusion method to create a single fused image.

Note:
For information on using the map fusion method, see ArcWeb Developer's Guide

2. Use functionality from ArcWeb Services with an ArcIMS or ArcGIS Server map service.

For example, use the ArcWeb Services Address Finder service to geocode an address and show the point on the map using an ArcIMS map service.

3. Build a custom ArcWeb SOAP Service from the ArcIMS Service (ArcIMS only).

Using this approach, it is possible to consume ArcIMS service through SOAP using ArcWeb services.
