Frequently asked question

Why don't the x and y coordinates shown in the geocoded feature class use the specified spatial reference for the geocoded feature class?

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Answer

The x and y coordinates of the geocoded locations shown in the X and Y fields are based on the address locator's spatial reference, not the geocoded feature class. However, the geometry of the geocoded points are generated based on the spatial reference of the geocoded feature class. Therefore, use the Add XY Coordinates geoprocessing tool to populate the x and y coordinates on the spatial reference of the output feature class.
