ArcMap crashes during a reconcile of a version through VBA code

Description

ArcMap crashes during a reconcile of a version through VBA code when a route event layer is present in the map document, for example IVersionEdit::Reconcile.
This crash does not happen with the Reconcile Version command on the Versioning toolbar.

Cause

This is a known issue.
