Can ArcIMS use ArcWeb Services as data source?

Answer

ArcWeb Service cannot be added as a layer or used as data source using ArcIMS map services for both AXL and MXD based.

Though some users have embedded an ArcWeb Service inside of MXD file and serve it out as ArcMap Image Map Service, this configuration is considered as unsupported usage of the product.
