HOW TO

Rename an ArcWeb Services style

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Summary

ArcWeb uses styles to determine how features appear on a map. This article describes how to rename an ArcWeb Services style.

Procedure

Rename styles in the Modify Style dialog box. This is accessed two ways:

· Modify a layer or create a map service using the Build Tools.

· Select the Edit tab of a layer or map service in the Content Library Click the layer or map service title to access the Edit tab.

Other notes:

· Enter a new name for an ArcWeb style in the Modify Style dialog box and a copy of the style is created with the new name. This style appears with custom content in the Content Library.

· Enter a new name for a style that you own in the Modify Style dialog box and the style is renamed.

Note:
When a style that you own is renamed, the old style is overwritten. This means any references to the old style break. If there is a broken style reference in Edit Map, the layer reverts to using its default style. If there is a broken reference in Edit Layer, the layer reverts to using the ArcWeb default style for that style type. The default styles are: point - black circle; line - black line; poly - green poly; label - Arial 10 pt.

· Modify an ArcWeb style without providing a new name for the modified version, which is essentially a copy of the original style, and the first copy uses the same name but is preceded by your user name. The second copy will have a tilde character after the name. Each additional copy will add another tilde character after the name.
