Last Published: April 25, 2020

The street name '7 St' is standardized to '7th St' by default.

Instructions provided describe how to maintain '7 st' as it is.

Procedure

Follow the steps below:

Note:
Rebuild the geocoding index using the Rebuild Geocoding Index tool in ArcToolbox > Geocoding Tools (9.0, 9.1) or rebuild the address locator using the Rebuild Address Locator tool in ArcToolbox > Geocoding Tools (9.2) after making these changes if an address locator already exists.

  1. Open the following file in a text editor such as Notepad: <ArcGIS_install_location>\Geocode\spedit.tbl
  2. Uncomment the following line by removing the semicolon in the beginning of the line:

    Code:
    ;CHKORD NO_ORDINAL

  3. Save and close the file.
  4. Restart ArcMap or ArcCatalog.
