.NET ADF Buffer template fails when trying to select in a server object with no selectable layers

Description

The .NET ADF Buffer template will fail with an application error when trying to select features in a server object that does not contain selectable layers.

Application_Error
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Cause

This is a known problem with the .NET ADF Buffer template.

Workaround

Ensure that the server object contains selectable layers for buffering.
