Convert a multipoint feature class into a point feature class

Summary

Instructions provided describe how to convert a multipoint feature class to a point feature class using an ArcInfo license.

Note:
This procedure uses the Feature to Point Data Management tool, which requires an Advanced ArcMap license.

Procedure

Follow the steps below.

1. Load the mulitpoint file into ArcMap and start an edit session.
2. Open the Advanced Editing toolbar, click Customize > Toolbars > Advanced Editing.
3. Start an edit session and select all of the features in the multipoint file.
4. On the Advanced Editing toolbar, click the Explode Multipart Feature button.
5. Stop editing and save edits.
6. Open the Feature to Point tool: ArcToolbox > Data Management Tools > Features > Feature To Point.
7. Specify the multipoint feature class as the Input Features and specify an Output Feature Class name.
8. Click OK to run the tool.
