How To: Improve ArcPress for ArcInfo Workstation performance
This document includes tips on how to improve the rasterization performance of ArcPress for ArcInfo workstation.
ArcPress intensively uses the CPU of the host machine, so load ArcPress on a system that has plenty of processing power.
Ensure that other CPU intensive applications are not running so ArcPress can use as much of the available resources as possible.
A PostScript file may process faster than a metafile (.gra or map composition), particularly if the data is a mix of vector and raster data sets. Convert the metafile to PostScript first and then run ArcPress.
Using the ArcPress option with the POSTSCRIPT command will reduce processing time significantly if the resulting PostScript file is run through ArcPress.
