FAQ: When is it recommended to recycle virtual servers?
When is it recommended to recycle virtual servers?
It is always recommended to recycle ArcMap Server virtual servers.
In addition, recycle the virtual servers when the following occurs:
1. When a firewall kills idle connections between the ArcIMS Spatial Server and ArcSDE. Recycle all virtual servers before the idle timeout occurs.
2. When an increasing amount of memory is used over time by the ArcIMS spatial server. Recycle all virtual servers to avoid the spatial server from consuming all the available memory.
For details on using recycling in ArcIMS, see ArcIMS Web help at ArcIMS Help > Keeping your site running > Managing Spatial Server recycling. A link to ArcIMS Web help is in the Related Information section of this article.
